National Football Foundation to Honor Marlow Fitzgerald – Attached is the flyer announcing the NFF Annual Awards Banquet where our own Marlow Fitzgerald will be recognized as the Official of the Year.  It is always a great event which includes a no-host social, dinner and the awards presentations.  Please join us as we recognize and honor Marlow for all of his achievements and for what he has meant to the SDCFOA!  The link below will lead you to on-line ticket sales using the Eventbrite site.  I found the process to be fairly easy to use.  Call me or Jennifer Bower (see flyer) if you have any difficulty

SDCFOA Board Meeting Last Night – Our first board meeting was a most productive and efficient meeting thanks to the preparation of the board, the officers, and our president Matt Starr.  Our 2023 Budget was adopted and the fees will remain at $125 for all members with the exception of 1st year members who will pay $99.  Registration is now open on the SDCFOA website at www.SDCFOA.org.
 
The board reviewed all responses to the annual survey of our membership and discussed the meeting schedule for 2023 (which is attached and on-line) featuring a blend of in-person meetings (preferred in this year’s survey) at Mira Mesa High School, plus Zoom Position Clinics, a Zoom Makeup Meeting, and one Zoom regular season meeting in September.  We will continue to evaluate this blended approach and look forward to presenting options to our members in next year’s annual survey.
 
All nineteen (19) 2nd year officials were certified at the board meeting.  Congratulations to our 2nd year class and we look forward to celebrating your certification at our 1st General Session Meeting on July 5th at Mira Mesa HS at 7:00 pm.
 
The annual calendar dates were approved which include the final date to pay dues on May 15th to be eligible for the Draft which will be on June 3rd.  Board Meetings will be on March 29th), April 26, May 17 (all at Calvin Christian High School and Sept. 13th (at Mira Mesa HS).  Board elections will be Oct. 11th and 25th (if needed).  Deadline to apply to be an appointed officer (Secretary, Treasurer, Instructional Chair, or Assignment Secty.) is August 31st.  The end date for Candidates to submit interest in being a member of the Board of Directors will be Oct. 1st.
 
The Board approved that we will again have 30 crews which is the same as last year.  This could be adjusted in May by the Board.  There will also be two (2) made up crews each week for a total of 32 games we can cover on any Friday night.  Two crew chiefs have stepped down, Gary Gittelson (moving to FL.) and Tyler Lindsay (work and family).
 
The recruiting committee reports that there have been 72 contacts by interested persons.  We hope this translates into a huge first year class.  Please recruit!
