SDCFOA Information Update - Steve Coover - June 12, 2025
Kyle Takeo Assigned to the Women’s National Football Conference Championships – Kyle will be the only “non-Texan on this crew which will be televised on ESPN2 on Saturday June 21st at 12:00 noon. Set your recorder
for this one as it is the league that includes the San Diego Rebellion, coached by our own Katie Ott. Some of you have officiated their games and will want to watch this championship game plus watch Kyle represent the SDCFOA!
New Shirts Order Form – As you know, the SDCFOA Board has approved the use of a new SDCFOA Shirt with our logo on the sleeve and the CIF patch on the front. The USA Flag has also moved to the opposite shoulder (see the attached pictures). It is up to the crew and referees whether to wear the new or old shirt at games, as the new shirt is optional for the 2025 season. It will be mandatory in 2026. If your crew is interested, not sure what shirt they would like or their size, Bob Hood will have them at the meetings for you to try on. They are consistent with your shirt size for a polo shirt. Smitty’s suggest going up one size for the long sleeve because you may wear something under it. AN ORDER FORM IS ALSO ATTACHED.
Crews for 2025 – Gentlemen, we expanded our number of crews from 27 to 33 for this season, The results of the 2025 Draft Is posted on the website. REMEMBER – We have more games than the 33 crews can work most weeks so all will need to be available for Friday night varsity games if possible! Everyone will be working and we have two Crew Chiefs (Kyle Takeo (see above) and Shawn Franklin) who will field two crews each week to help develop our certified and 1st and 2nd year officials for varsity level officiating. Many of those drafted this season worked with Kyle and David Collins last year and their hard work and development was noticed by the other crew chiefs. So, whether it’s a youth game or high school game, flag or tackle football, work hard and listen and learn from your Referee that day!
Recruit New Officials – Now is the perfect time to register, if you haven’t done so, and to recruit new members. We need to continue to grow as an Association and have even more fun by recruiting friends, family, and business associates into the fraternity of the SDCFOA!
