8-2-5 Diagram

8-2-5 The optional penalty enforcement applies on dead ball fouls that occur prior to the initial ready for play on the try. In MechaniGram A, A1 scores a touchdown. Several seconds after the play is over, B2 contacts A1 (MechaniGram B). A has the option to have penalty enforced from the succeeding spot or on the subsequent kickoff. Enforcement on the try would result in half the distance enforcement (MechaniGram C).

8-2-5, 10-5-1f If either team commits a foul that has succeeding spot enforcement before the initial ready for play signal on the ensuing try following a touchdown scoring play (MechaniGram A), the penalty may be enforced on either the try (MechaniGram B) or on the subsequent kickoff (MechaniGram C).
