SDCFOA Information Update - Steve Coover - August 14, 2026

Game Film – Screen Blocking – We received some good game film and so Katie did a 10-minute zoom video of quite a few plays in succession demonstrating both legal blocking and many illegal blocks.  Please note that the foul for the offense to perform and illegal screen block is Illegal Blocking 10-yds. Signal 34 (like illegal use of hands).  The foul for a defensive player creating contact with a legal, stationary screen block is Illegal Use of Hands or Arms 10-yds. Signal 34.  Using Illegal Contact is acceptable but technically incorrect.
 
No Stripes on Shorts – The CIF has denied all requests for a waiver for this year.  If a team has shorts with stripes then the team will be penalized a UNS to start the game and that will be the head coach’s first UNS.
