SAN DIEGO COUNTY FOOTBALL OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION - THE WEEKLY BULL – October 14, 2026
Meeting This Wednesday – Wednesday, October 14th at 7:00 pm at Mira Mesa High School. This will be the meeting where our certified officials will meet our candidates who are running for the Board. So, the agendas will be a little bit different: All Crew Chiefs and Instructors will meet in the Library at 6:00 pm for our regular Crew Chief Meeting. 1st and 2nd Year officials will meet at 7:00 pm in their respective classrooms as usual. All certified officials will meet in the Library at 7:00 pm to hear from the candidates. After the certified officials hear from the candidates, we will adjourn to our regular classrooms for our instructional meeting to include Attendance, The Bull; Calibration; and Instructional Video.
Park in The Back – It will be best to park in the back where we usually park. Walk across campus to the Library if you are a Certified member so you can hear from the Board candidates. Then we will be walking back across to our regular classrooms for our classroom instruction. 1st & 2nd year just go straight to your classrooms (not the Library).
Voting for Board Members – The Primary election for the SDCFOA Board of Directors will commence on 14 October @ 10PM and end on 18 October @6PM. You can vote for at least one candidate or a maximum of 8 candidates. Voting for more than 8 will invalidate your ballot. Ballots will appear on your e-mail that is in arbiter. Please also check your spam folder for the ballot occasionally ends up there. If you did not receive a ballot by 15 October e-mail me (Zap75@cox.net). with your full name and e-mail and I will resend the ballot. I can see who votes but not who you vote for. I will explain this again at the Wednesday meeting, after the candidates have presented themselves to you. Regards - Ed Zapolski
Attendance - Check the sign in sheets to make sure you’ve met the nine (9) meetings requirement. Please note your attendance at the position clinic, Flag Football Clinic, and the banquet count as meetings. If you’re one short I will look to see if you attended an additional clinic and give you credit. If you’re seriously short of attendance, please email your request for a one-year waiver from requirements to me. I will forward to the Board for their consideration. Meeting these requirements keeps you eligible for the 2026 draft and the playoffs!
Golf Tournament - Sign up now! sdyouthfootballfund.orgis the sign-up hub. Registration, cost is $160 includes range balls, golf, tee gifts, round of golf, lunch, and raffle prize at golf banquet. We are looking for a volunteer, who does not want to golf, but wants to be a part of the event, to assist by sitting at a par 3, collecting funds for our Par 3 Challenge, and rewarding those who get on the green with a prize. Meet all the players and assist the Fund in fundraising. Welcome to join our banquet after and get a free lunch. Raffle prizes are needed, think about getting something to donate to raffle. The golf tournament raffle is separate from the Banquet raffle, so we always want everyone to leave the golf tournament with a memento. Handicapped Parking – Everyone who is eligible to park in a handicapped parking spot has that right. But we do want to be clear that the optics of an official arriving at a game and parking in a handicapped spot with a handicapped placard is pretty bad.
Final Call for Service Anniversaries – Please contact Rick Christensen if you have earned a service award: 1977 (50 years), 1987 (40 years), 1997 (30 years), and 2007 (20 years).
Tackle Playoffs – The seeding meeting will be Sunday November 1st and the brackets will be posted to the CIF website that same day. Tackle playoffs begin Friday November 6th and follow every Friday at 7:00 until November 20. The date and times for the Finals have not yet been announced as sites have not yet been chosen.
